·       Small quantity: Lesser than government-specified limits

·       Commercial quantity: Greater than government-specified limits

·       Addict: Person dependent on narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances

Punishment Framework

Consumption Offenses (Section 27)

·       Cocaine, morphine, heroin: Up to 1 year rigorous imprisonment OR ₹20,000 fine OR both

·       Other substances: Up to 6 months imprisonment OR ₹10,000 fine OR both

Important provisions of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013



[Act 14 of 2013 as amended up to Act 23 of 2016 and updated as of 30th April 2024]

An Act to provide protection against sexual harassment of women at workplace and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto

Whereas sexual harassment results in violation of the fundamental rights of a woman to equality under Articles 14 and 15 of the Constitution of India and her right to life and to live with dignity under Article 21 of the Constitution and right to practice any profession or to carry on any occupation, trade or business which includes a right to a safe environment free from sexual harassment;

And whereas the protection against sexual harassment and the right to work with dignity are universally recognised human rights by international conventions and instruments such as Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, which has been ratified on the 25th June, 1993 by the Government of India;

And whereas it is expedient to make provisions for giving effect to the said Convention for protection of women against sexual harassment at workplace;

Important provisions of Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (in Financial Establishments) Act, 1999

 3. Fraudulent default by Financial EstablishmentAny Financial Establishment, which fraudulently defaults any repayment of deposit on maturity alongwith any benefit in the form of interest, bonus, profit or in any other form as promised or fraudulently fails to render service as assured against the deposit, every person including the promoter, partner, director, manager or any other person or an employee responsible for the management of or conducting of the business or affairs of such Financial Establishment shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six years and with fine which may extend to one lac of rupees and such Financial Establishment also shall be liable for a fine which may extend to one lac of rupees.

Important provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999

 1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999.

 Received the assent of the Governor on 23rd April, 1999 and published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette Extraordinary, Part-IV, dated 24th April, 1999.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra.

2. Definitions.—(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

(d) “continuing unlawful activity” means an activity prohibited by law for the time being in force, which is a cognizable offence punishable with imprisonment of three years or more, undertaken either singly or jointly, as a member of an organised crime syndicate or on behalf of such, syndicate in respect of which more than one charge-sheets have been field before a competent Court within the preceding period of ten years and that Court has taken cognizance of such offence;
