5 Free Stock Photo Sites For Blog Posts, Presentations And Marketing Copy

Need to write a blog post or article, fashion marketing copy or create a presentation? You’ll need an image or 3. If it’s a one-off effort, then purchasing an image from the myriad fee-based stock photography sites makes sense. But if you’re putting out content daily, the cost can quickly add up. Here are 5 free stock photo sites where where you can find the right image without damaging your wallet.
1. Pixaby – Instead of telling you about these guys, this quote pretty much says it all: A repository for stunning public domain images. You can freely use any image from this website in digital and printed format, for personal and commercial use, without attribution requirement to the original author. It doesn’t get any clearer…or free-er than that. Search for a specific term or browse by “editor’s choice,” “latest,” etc.

2. Unsplash – If you’re looking for free, hi-resolution photos, check out this tumblr site. They’re relatively new so you won’t find a ton of images, but you’ll love most of the ones you find there – like the image accompanying this blog post – which I had to reduce by more than 80 percent to fit on this page. Unsplash is especially useful for presentations, flyers and other copy that call for hi-resolution images.
3. stock.xchng – This site has over 2,500,000 registered users and around 400,000 photos. Search among a great collection of free images, or browse by category – business, concepts, people, and a dozen others. Images are free to use, but take a look at the licensing agreement if you wish to include them in items you intend to sell.
4. Wikimedia Commons – This site boasts over 18 million public-domain images, sound and video clips. It’s not the sexist collection of images, but there are gems to be discovered.
5. Photo Pin – This site makes it easy to add images to blog posts: search for a term among the millions of Creative Commons photos from Flickr, choose your image and you’ll also get the proper HTML attribution code to include in your blog post.
Images have an impact and you don’t have to break the bank to find them.
